As some of you may remember from November, I was able to get health care coverage with Kaiser through work. (A combination of that, my naïvité, and my stupidity has left me in a pretty screwed position regarding endocrinology--which has also further put off my already year-old goal of getting the M on my driver's license changed to an F--but those are a different story.)

When I came home from work Friday (4/24/09), I had a letter from Kaiser waiting for me (dated 4/17/09). It was a certificate of coverage for helping me get new health care, because my coverage was discontinued as of February 7th. This was news to me, because I had definitely not discontinued my health care plan. Nor had I received any notice to that effect in the more than two months between them discontinuing my plan and printing this letter.

Of course, because their hotline has no weekend hours and their hours were over before I even left work, let alone got home, I had to wait until today to call them. I called during lunch and was told that my employer had discontinued my plan. So I called HR's health care hotline. I informed them of the situation and asked what was going on. I was told that they would have to get in touch with Kaiser and look into it and that they would call me back in a few minutes. I gave my cell phone number and kept it turned on and with me. Obviously, I didn't really expect them to call back in a few minutes, but I did think that I would get a call by close-of-business to at least tell me that they're looking into it but don't know what's going on yet.

I never received a call. I didn't miss any calls. I'll call again tomorrow and hope things go better.
