Time for my negative review of Watchmen? [Mar. 6th, 2009|03:19 am]

So, Jack and I just came home from the midnight premiere of Watchmen. (Happy birthday, Jack!) Many of you might know or be able to guess just what a piece of shit I expected this to be. It was excellent. It is that rarest of things, a good adaptation. If you liked the comic book, go see the movie. It you have not read the comic book, go see the movie. (Also, go read the comic book...it's only twelve issues.) Of course, the comic book has more nuance, nonetheless, the movie successfully found a way to tell the story on film.

*NOT A SPOILER ALERT*
The only stupid part is: Miss Jupiter accidentally starts a fire. In the comic book, she does this, intending to light a cigarette, by pushing a fire-symbol button she thinks is a lighter. In the film, instead, she is pushing random buttons without knowing what they do for know reason and still pushes the fire-symbol button.

Ooh! A better title for this post would have been "I will watch the watchmen".

I completely agree with your assessment of Watchmen. Great film. any comic adaptation that can pull off being that long without being tedious is great. I also agree with your issue about the fire button, I mean really who would do that? Haven't seen you much on facebook and wanted to say hi. This is Myk by the way. I wanted to see if you have anytime in the upcoming weeks to hang out. Email me at matrixneo73@aol.com sometime.
